About us!
The St. Barthélemy International Property Owners Association (SBIPOA) is open to all international property owners, long-term renters, residents, and frequent visitors to the island.
Over 60 years ago, a few international families discovered St-Barth and began building vacation homes on the island. Over the years, as St-Barth’s popularity grew, so did the number of international home owners. They formed an association (with the acronym SBIPOA) to provide a forum to meet socially and, more importantly, to exchange information and promote the shared goals of the members.
“Meet socially, exchange information, promote shared goals”.
These goals include protecting and preserving the quality of life on St-Barth. This quality of life stems from keeping the island ecologically balanced and protecting its pristine beaches and marine life, while also keeping the island’s traditions of good food and friendships alive and growing.
Why join us?
The meetings are a vehicle for residents and visitors of the island to keep in touch and to speak to the decision makers of the island.
The group now has a variety of formal meetings, social events and a fund raiser to address the environmental and humanitarian needs of the island throughout the year. In keeping with its members’ appreciation of gastronomy, the group convenes for presentations at the island’s renowned restaurants or for convivial soirees at members’ houses. The meetings include presentations from a variety of speakers, ranging in subjects from how to maintain the island’s authenticity – its natural environment as well as historical and cultural heritage – to security, health and financial matters. The meetings are a vehicle for residents and visitors of the island to keep in touch and to speak to the decision makers of the island.
